A while back, when I was a waiter at the Bread Loaf Writers’ Conference, I was amazed at the talent among the fellow wait staff. I kept wondering how the hell I got to be among such talent. Everyone was an overachiever. Everyone had big plans. Everyone could write like crazy–and there I was with an unfinished novel, and so on.
Boo-hoo.
Anyway, Justin Torres was a standout, even among that group. He recently read his work on NPR.
