My Recent Fiction
My short stories have been published in a variety of journals. I’ve received a variety of writing scholarships, most notably to the Bread Loaf Writers’ Conference and the Summer Literary Seminars in St. Petersburg, Russia.
I am the Fiction Editor at award-winning site, Guernica / A Magazine of Art and Politics. My work has been praised by Esquire and has received several major literary awards, such as the Caine Prize for African Writing (known colloquially as the “African Booker”).
Guernica is a three-time PEN World Voices participant, and has an average of 100,000 unique visitors. As editor, I’ve published works by Jesse Ball, Rivka Galchen, Francisco Goldman, Sam Lipsyte, Ben Marcus, and Claire Messud. I’ve read my fiction and nonfiction at some 40 venues in New York City and around the world.
